Reusable Pen Guide
Step-by-step setup and usage instructions for your SeraNova reusable pen system. Select your pen type below to get started.
V1 Premium Reusable Pen
The SeraNova V1 pen is a dedicated reusable injection pen designed specifically for use with SeraNova prefilled cartridges. Simple to set up, elegant to use, and built for long-term consistency.
Remove the Pen Cap
Pull the cap off the pen body to expose the cartridge holder end.
Unscrew the Cartridge Holder
Twist the cartridge holder anticlockwise and separate it from the pen body.
Insert the SeraNova Cartridge
Place your SeraNova prefilled cartridge into the cartridge holder with the rubber stopper end facing the pen body.
Reattach the Holder to the Pen Body
Screw the cartridge holder back onto the pen body clockwise until firmly attached. Wipe the cartridge stopper with an alcohol swab.
Attach a Fresh Pen Needle
Take a new pen needle, remove the paper tab, and screw it onto the cartridge holder end clockwise until secure.
Prime the Pen
Remove both needle shields. Dial to 2 units and press the injection button to prime — a small drop at the needle tip confirms correct flow.
Dial Your Target Dose
Turn the dose dial to your target unit number as calculated by the SeraNova Dosage Calculator.
Perform the Injection
Wipe the injection site with an alcohol swab. Insert the needle subcutaneously and press the button fully. Hold for 10 seconds before removing.
Replace the outer needle shield and unscrew the needle anticlockwise to remove it safely.
Dispose of the used needle safely. Never reuse a pen needle between injections.
Replace the pen cap and store the pen refrigerated between 2–8°C until next use.
Classic Pen — Novopen 4 Conversion
The Classic Pen system uses a Novopen 4 pen body converted using the included orange adapter kit. The two-piece orange conversion kit allows the SeraNova cartridge to be used with the Novopen 4 pen body.
Unscrew the Pen Body
Twist the Novopen 4 pen body anticlockwise to unscrew and separate the pen body from the cartridge holder section.
Insert the Orange Spacer
Slide the orange spacer piece around the plunger rod at the bottom of the pen body. This ensures correct plunger alignment with the SeraNova cartridge.
Attach the Screw Adapter to the Cartridge
Take the orange screw adapter and thread it onto the SeraNova prefilled cartridge. Screw clockwise until firmly seated on the cartridge.
Insert the Converted Cartridge
Insert the cartridge with the orange screw adapter attached into the cartridge space of the pen — rubber stopper end facing the pen body plunger.
Reattach the Pen Body
With the orange spacer in place at the bottom around the plunger, screw the pen body back onto the cartridge holder clockwise until firmly connected. The pen is now fully converted.
Attach a Pen Needle
Screw a fresh pen needle onto the cartridge holder end clockwise until secure. Remove both needle shields before use.
Prime the Pen
Dial 2 units and press the button to prime. A small drop at the needle tip confirms the pen is ready and air has been expelled.
Dial Your Dose and Inject
Dial to your target dose, wipe the injection site with an alcohol swab, insert subcutaneously and press the button fully. Hold for 10 seconds before removing.
When replacing the cartridge, unscrew the pen body, remove the used cartridge, unscrew the orange adapter from the old cartridge and attach it to the new SeraNova cartridge. Reinsert and reassemble following Steps 3–5 above.
The two orange adapter pieces are reusable and must be retained for every cartridge change. Do not discard them — they are required for every future cartridge installation.
